Introduction

These practical resources were developed in response to questions and priorities raised by Indigenous community members during Pollination Foundation workshops. They have been designed to support Indigenous Peoples and local communities better understand nature markets, assess potential partnerships, explore enterprise ideas and make informed decisions at their own pace.

Nature Markets Glossary

A plain-language guide to common terms used in carbon, biodiversity, water, finance and nature-market agreements. It can help communities prepare for meetings, understand proposals and identify questions that may require further advice.

Bilateral Readiness to Partner Checklist

A practical checklist for assessing whether both an Indigenous community and a prospective corporate partner are ready to build a respectful and workable nature-market partnership. It covers consent, benefit-sharing, cultural and data rights, independent advice, payments, risk, reporting and other important foundations.

Investing in Nature: A Company Decision-Making Framework

An introduction to why companies invest in nature and the questions they may consider before supporting a project. It can help communities better understand corporate motivations, approval processes and partnership expectations.

Lean Canvas for Indigenous Enterprise

A flexible planning tool for exploring whether an enterprise idea is community-supported, culturally safe, practical and financially viable. It begins with community authority and consent, then guides discussion about aspirations, governance, markets, delivery, risks and costs.

Greenwashing Checklist

A practical checklist for assessing greenwashing safeguards to protect communities, companies, funders, governments and other partners from legal, reputational and delivery risks. It covers consent, benefit-sharing, cultural and data rights, independent advice, payments, risk, reporting and other important foundations.
